Poor Little Black Girl

Poor Little Black Girl
With your singed complexion
And thick lips
Your nose ain't button enough
So you fall for his tricks

Last in the books
So you find you pleasure in looks

Your leisure is spent hanging with friends
In those perilous ends
When you think you know how to defend

Daddy ain't around and if he is he ain't
You suffer cause your mother always leaves you 8-8
She never tells you she loves you or neither of your bro's
So you spend your time acting like a hoe

Teacher never told you you'd ever pass the class
So you spend your free time posting your ass
On Instagram

Without a fam
Your sense of belonging dissolves
Yet your cyclical mindset and direction never seem to evolve

Searching for affection in the arms of another mans child
You become wild
Delirious with addiction
From the 'lust' that you've found

Oh, poor little black girl
Spread your wings and fly
High, higher, higher!
Till you reach the sky.

**A Spoken word to be read with slight aggression, my prose depicts the typical stereotype of a young black female, that I myself have never experienced, but there are some who have (I imagine😄). Through this I aim to uplift black females who are sometimes considered the underdogs. I will be exploring this theme in further depth, so please look out for more.**
